SrinivasaRao
Hi,
I am designing Birt Cross tab reports. Now i got one requirement like
Displaying Multiple group of dynamic growing columns in the cross tab reports
Ex:-
For the Student need to display Different types of University Fees and Additional Fees.
Here University fees and Additional Fees both are dynamic growing column groups.
Here find attached report template how exactly i need.
Notes:- a). Open attachment in notepad with (Lucida Console font,Regular and size as 10)
b).1)Fees 2)additional fees and 3)Net paid are dynamic growing columns.
Anybody can Please suggest how i can achieve this requirement as soon as possible.
Waiting for your response.

Hi Srinivas,
What does your data look like in your dataSet for an example like this? Is the net paid stuff computed? Or in your dataSet already?
SrinivasaRao
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Netpaid is calculated column(Additional Fees+ Fees for particular a/c).
AdditionalFees and Fees are coming from Databse.
For the no.of accounts we need to display these Fees and Additional Fees columns(Dynamic growing columns) and sum of these two columns for an individual a/c's as net paid.
Please help me to solve this problem as soon as possible.
Thanks alot for your time.
Thanks,

Srinivas,
So, when there's a column in fees and one in additional fees for the same account number, you want to have them added in the net section? Can you show a sample of data from your dataSet? Exactly what it looks like?
SrinivasaRao
Hi,
Thank you somuch for your reply and sorry for the delay in response.
Here i am attaching the report template that contains Two reports.
Report #1 is the report which exctly i need in that format.
i was unable to do in that format so , i have done in the second report Report #2 format.
Please suugest me can we do the report in the format like Report1.
Note:- In the reports the states columns are dynamic one country might contain any no of states and for each state we need to display population and average income.
Please open the report template in notepad with font as LucidaConsole size:10, Regular
Waiting for your response.

Srinivas,
Can you show me exactly what the dataSet data would look like for this report?
To get #1, it'd have to be something like:
Country | State | Pop/Income | Value
USA | New Jersey | Population | 300
USA | New Jersey | Income | 30020
This would allow you to put Country as the row dimension of the crosstab, Pop/Income as the main column dimension, State as the sub-column dimension and Value as the measure. If you have your data set up like:
Country | State | Population | Income
USA | New Jersey | 300 | 30020
It might be a little more difficult to get what you're looking for.
Let me know.
SrinivasaRao
Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply.
My Data Setup is exactly like in the same format what you have mentioned.
Country | State | Population | Income
USA | New Jersey | 300 | 30020
USA | Mexico | 500 | 30500
Can you please suggest me. Whether we can do it in format like "Report #1" or not?
mwilliams
Srinivas,
I was able to get what you are wanting your crosstab to look like by creating a full outer joint dataSet of the original dataSet with itself on "state" to duplicate the rows. Then, I created a dataSet setup like I showed above would work to make what you're wanting by making computed columns to display the value type and value. I then made the crosstab with this dataSet. Check out the attached sample. You'll need to change the file location of wherever you save the txt file in the dataSource. Let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully this helps in your exact scenario.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply and time.
The report exactly fulfill my requirement but the problem is when join the result set its giving wrong data it might be because of my query have the calculated fields.
My actual result set returning the 31 rows but, when i join it to get the join dataset i am getting 195 rows.
I will try same for the other set and keep on update you.
Once again thanks for your time & work.
Thanks,
Srinivas.T

Srinivas,
Yeah, let me know. If you have larger samples of data you can put in csv files for me to work with, I can see if I can do the same with those. Your actual data may have different issues with the join than the sample I was working with.
