Export to Word
rtruban
Hello,
Reports I create export perfectly to PDF but when exported to Word they are often very ugly, extra pages, things cut off on the bottom of page etc.. Is there any special design considerations or tricks for creating reports that will look nice when exported to Word?
TIA,
Rob

Hello,
I have the same problem to...color bugs, ugly cells, .... word export is ok if you
do something simple.
In Word reporting, i discover that :
- margins and paddings are not done in Word
- merging cells in grid are doing color bugs when you set a color of cells background
Any idea to do a good Word reporting ?

What versions of BIRT are you guys using? I'll test some different setups. Any examples of problems with Word you can post would be great for me to check out too.

I am using 2.5.1... I will try and mock something up that I can post. It seems the biggest problem is the way that grids get converted to tables in Word. I have to experiment with layouts and sizes of rows,columns/cells endlessly to get things to somewhat work....

I try 2.5 and 2.5.1 and they do same things. Here are screenshots (word doc rendering, rptdesign in Birt, and one part of word document in Office2003) of lot of bugs.
When i merge cells or not , it create white stripes.

I don't have any workaround tricks, but someone should make sure these problems are reported at <a class='bbc_url' href='

Bugs - BIRT Exchange</a> so they can be addressed.

Thanks for yous answer.
At this point (i only test 2.3.2 to 2.5.1) , reporting to Word/excel is not admissible for any customer, to print or to modify, except if
you dont need a page layout.
And it is very strange why anyone who is going to present BIRT say that word/excel reporting is ok...as it is not!
....as all of these people never have try to do an Word/Excel report, only see in BIRT that it is possible...
Finaly, i have succeeded in making a page layout as i need (very near and looks like), but it's very hard!
So Word reporting in BIRT is not "WYSWYG"
