Staked Area + Y Series Grouping + Single line
lbrun
Hi,
I'm using BIRT 2.5.1
I have to publish Sales by months by Category with a look at total Sales.
I set A Stacked Area Chart with :
Category (X) : Months
Series 1 : Sales Values
Optional Y Series Grouping : Sale's Category Values
And now i want to have on the same graph a line on the same Y Axis with Total Objectives Values.
And i dont know how to do this.
I think i should set 2 datasources : one for Category Sales and one for Objectives, by months
But then how to "synchronize" months axes with Sales and Objectives in the Chart ?
Regards.

Hi lbrun,
You can only have one dataSet bound to a chart, so, if you use two dataSources, you'll need to join the dataSets on a common key. As for how to put a second series into a chart that's a different style, you just need to add a new series to a chart in the select data section of the chart builder and then on the series tab of the format section, you'd need to change the second series' type to a line chart or whatever you want.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply
So there's no way to have a grouped series and another single serie not grouped on "Optional Y Series Grouping" ?
Or maybe by "hard" javascript ?
I'm thinking to a way to dynamic set series in order not to group them.
With a query like that :
Select
sum(sales) as myValue, category, months from mySales group by category, months
UNION ALL
select sum(goals) as myValue,'**GOALS**' category, months from myGoals group by months
In other words : is there a way from that query to have a stacked area charts with a serie by category (without category '**GOALS**'), and a single line serie with the "special" category '**GOALS**' ?
Regards,
Lilian.
