Sorting chart on aggregate data
mabuse
I have a bar chart where the y axis is a count of items having the same x axis value. The data set is flat, so BIRT is doing the grouping through the x axis grouping option. This works fine if i want to sort by the value i'm grouping on, but i need to sort by the aggregate value, so that the group with the highest count of items appears first.
Is there any way of doing this without doing the grouping in sql?
Thanks

Off the top of my head, if you set the chart to use data from the table instead of from the data set, and add in your aggregate data component at the table (which creates a table binding that can be used inside of the chart), then you can do anything with that aggregate result that you could with a data element, such as group, sort, or display in the chart.

How do i set the chart to use data from the table? I have a table with a group and a column binding that is aggregated on that group. But the chart's "Use data from" drop down doesn't give me the option to use that table for the data binding (although the table does give me the option to use the chart for its data binding).
Does the table need to appear before the chart? Could i put the chart inside another table and have it inherit its data binding, and somehow make the table invisible except for the chart?
