Data Set Parameter Linked to a Multiselect Report Parameter????
chorton
Is it not possible to link a multiselect report parameter to a data set parameter. The report parameter doesn't even show up as an option to link to unless I turn off the multiselect.
Not sure if using the 'Query Text' is an option as we're pulling our data from a Web Service.
Any advice or clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi chorton,
That is correct, a multiple select parameter is not able to be tied to a dataSet parameter. This is the same in an SQL dataSet as well. The parameter must be stepped through and separated in javascript and added to the query that way. For web services, you could bring in all the data and filter your results based on the parameter values or you could change your webservice request in your javascript.

Are you aware of any documentation explaining how to change the webservice request in javascript?

I don't know of any documentation, but if you look in the XML Source, the web services request still uses the queryText variable, so I would guess that you could edit the web service request in the beforeOpen method of the dataSet by changing the "queryText".<br />

Here is a document that is all about web services data sources though.<br />
