Hi ramshankr,
BIRT template is the starting point for designing BIRT reports in BIRT Report Studio. Here is a short tutorial that shows how to create and publish a BIRT template:
Hi Ashwini,
Thanks for your information.
Please could you provide your suggestion for the below scenario.
I have two BIRT report developed Using (Actuate BRD Pro/BIRT Studio)
1. Report One (BRD Created Using Studio)
2. Report Two (Actuate BRD Pro)
I have developed the Report One in BIRT Studio and i was able to open and modify it is content but i was not able to do the same for Report two.
It is displaying a warning message (This report design has no editable items ).
Can you please let me know, is it feasible to do so or is there any other way to do the same?
Regards,
Ramshankar

Hi ramshankar,
You see the warning message because your report 1 contains editable items and report 2 doesn't contain any. If you want BIRT Report Studio users to edit second report, you will need to identify some elements in that report design as "template report item". (Only labels and tables can be edited in BIRT Report Studio) Open the second report in BRD Pro, right click on the element, then choose create template report item. Then specify a descriptive name for the element, so that BIRT Report Studio user can easily identify the purpose of the element.
If you only want to modify the second report to provide your own formatting, sorting, aggregation etc and save the modified BIRT design then I would recommend using Actuate Interactive Viewer instead.

Thanks for your wonderful and detail response.
I have regrets in that case I will not be able to make use of the Report two in the application. After modifying some elements as editable item, When i run this report editable item is not getting dispalyed and It would be appropriate to be used only in BIRT Studio. I am trying to analysis the Report One using BRD Pro and could not see table property provided as template report item but i could modify in the BIRT Studio.
Why the table in Report One is not created as template report item ?
My requirement is straight forward:
In my project there are around 100 BIRT report used whether business user can make use of the birt report design in BIRT Studio for their new reports instead of creating report from scratch. for example ( Adding a new column ).
Please help me in this regards.

Hi ramshankar,
This is a known issue and is currently being addressed. Note that for complex reports, desktop based BIRT Designer provides a better editing environment and may not be handled well in BIRT Report Studio.
In your particular case an alternative approach would be to hide the table columns that you do not want to display by default. The end user could edit this report in Interactive Viewer and unhide the columns or even create new computed columns based on the existing columns. The modified report design then could be saved back as a different design file and be further edited.
