Externalize BIRT sql query?

I have a need to support multiple database engines, so the queries are slightly different depending on the database type. I would like to externalize the query (in a file) and use a config value to let BIRT report know which file to use for a particular environment. Is this possible?

The easiest solution would be to create a stored proc on each DB. If you use the same name, you can simply execute the stored proc from your report. The DB connection info (dictating what DB you connect to) can be parametrized to give you the flexibility to connect to different DBs.
