Join on multiple keys in Joint Data Set????
chorton
What are the chances of getting an enhancement to allow joining on multiple keys in a joint data set.
Without this functionality I have to create multiple joint data sets which ends up giving me an error about duplicate column names.
For instance i have two data sets A & B.
I create a joint data set called jds_AB on A.1 = B.1
Then create jds_AB2 joining on a second key (jds_AB to B on jds_AB.2 = B.2)
Now I have the same fields specified twice.
We either need the ability to change the output colums at the joint data set level or the ability to join on multiple keys.
Are there any talks of adding such functionality?

I know the problem you're talking about. While you can't do a multiple join - IF your joins are going to be the same relationship (one to one, etc) then you can concatenate the 2 data items in both tables and then link them together which is how we worked around this problem.
a1 = b1
a2 = b2 <-- wish it could work like that
a1||a2 = b1||b2 <-- this is how we made it work
What would be EXTRA nice is if the join had an expression editor added to it. That way we could program the join any way we would like. Cognos actually has something like that, but BIRT is far more customizable in other areas.

That would be a good thing to request as an enhancement for future versions of BIRT!
