Updating Birt reorts in IBM RAD 7.5.3???
kiranv
Hello All,
I am trying to open my birt reports created in eclipse in IBM RAD 7.5.3 and it is throwing the exception - "The report file of version 3.2.20 is not supported".
I can understand that I need to update the BIRT version of IBM RAD 7.5. The question is to how to UPDATE?
I tried updating from IBM RAD Software updates and entered the URL "
http://download.eclipse.org/birt/update-site/2.5"
; and then "
http://download.eclipse.org/birt/update-site/"
; in the ADD SITE.
However both returned an exception of "No repository found at
http://download.eclipse.org/birt/update-site/2.5"
.
"
Please help
Thanks in advance,
Kiran

Hey there,

We have the same issue where we are using RAD 7.5.5 and wanting to use BIRT 2.5.2 features.

From the BIRT
website it seems that 2.3.x is the latest version supported on the Eclipse 3.4 platform.

RAD 7.5.x is using Eclipse 3.4 which might be why we are struggling to update to later versions of BIRT?

As a workaround, we are currently modifying the source XML to support 2.5.2 features (but not changing the report version so that it still works in RAD 7.5.5) since we are running on 2.5.2 Report Engine API. It just means our preview in RAD is not 100% accurate.

One other option if your organisation is up for it is to use base Eclipse with MyEclipse
Blue if you need say the ClearCase plugin or other RAD features.

Another option that I have not tried is dumping the BIRT 2.5.2 plugins+features straight into the /SDPShared folder and removing the RAD provided ones.

Or we can always use the BIRT
RCP Designer just for BIRT designing and RAD for other needs.

Cheers!
