Unable to preview reports from BIRT Report Designer

Hi, I am using Actuate BIRT Report Designer Pro and I am unable to view or preview any report from the designer, even the simplest of report. When I hit 'View Report' the viewer launches but the content is simply 'null' in red text. Here is a screenshot of the error: <img…

I am using Actuate BIRT Report Designer Pro and I am unable to view or preview any report from the designer, even the simplest of report. 
 
When I hit 'View Report' the viewer launches but the content is simply 'null' in red text.

Has anyone else hit this issue? I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I have not seen this issue before. Does this happen for all output formats?

Yes all output formats. I have found the following error in reportService.0.BCBDK4J.2010Mar23_09_00_31_Pacific_Daylight_Time.0.log

/WEB-INF/brdlicense.xml
1 = [Fatal Error] :1:1: Content is not allowed in prolog.
[Error] Unexpected exception: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Content is not allowed in prolog.

So there appears to be something wrong with the license file, it parses OK in IE and FireFox though. I'm looking into this error now.
