Data flow across columns
dan3874
Does anyone know how to make a specific group, for instance, flow across two columns? This would be used when the report is made up of many subreports and using smaller type and allowing the data to display in two columns would allow more sections to appear on the page.

Hi Dan,

I'm not very clear about your requirements. can you give more explanations or give a example?
What I am trying to accomplish is, say in the middle of the page - have a chunk of data that flows across two columns. Then other data below that.
So we would then and flowed across to
have data that was the second column to
formatted like this, display here in the middle.
Then the rest of the report would flow beyond it. I know it isn't easy to do in a report, but wondered if BIRT created something to do this?

Dan,
From what I am able to understand of your situation, it seems you are looking for a nested table.
From a layout perspective, you have many options to tie the nested table to the outer table row. I've done this using some BIRT String functions and multiple data sets... In some cases, using a global variable to match records might be required. The way you tie the inner table to the outer table will guide the approach.
Does a nested table solution fit your requirement? if not, please explain further.
Thanks,
RG
