Tables in DCT
sunil_j
Hi,
Is it possible to create Tables inside a Data Capture Templates ? If yes how can we create another row of a table, after the user finishes entering one row in the Table ?
Thanx
Sunil

tables, per se, are not supported within DCTs -there is the concept of 'rows' to some degree, but not columns, and not cells.
Feel free to contact Interwoven Support to open up a Feature Request for them though

Visual Format allows you to do this, along with many other features. Its takes a bit of work to get it to present the HTML in the standard you need.
you use it with a textarea field item.
<textarea rows="15" cols="65" external-editor="visualformat" external-editor-config="tbd.xml" wrap="virtual">
</textarea>
You could do something with replicants, but that would be way too messy for a user to fill.
There are wysisyg DHTML editors floating around the net. You could create your own callout and implement it this way.
But that would be reinventing the wheel.
Visual format is a pain in the but, but it works well with tables.
ooops... maybe i didnt answer the question?????

I assumed the question had to deal with laying out fields in the form, and not within the context of a textarea (if it was the latter, you answered it).
There is work being done to minimize the overhead of VF fields in DCTs - not sure when it will be available (haven't seen it myself yet), but it's definitely one of the "pain points" that is targeted for a dose of asprin.

Yes after reading your post (we must have started writing at the same time), I realised the question could have meant that aswell.
VF loading overhead is one pain... massaging the HTML it produces is another big one!!
Do you ever go to sleep?.. or do fish always stay awake?
Its has to be getting late in the US now... definitely not working hours... 'hardcore hawk eye'
