Hyperlinks on a Chart X Axis

Hello,

I have this great chart which is showing data on both axis - my goal is to permit a user (through a browser) to select one of the CAR NAMES shown on the X axis with the intend that more information concerning that CAR would be shown on a different page.

Is this feasible in BIRT? If so, help is required

Hi Alex,

You should be able to open your chart editor, go to the format chart tab, select the x-axis section, and then use the interactivity button at the bottom of that page to link to another report with specific info about that car.

The INTERACTIVITY button is grayed out and disabled - am I missing a check box to activate this feature?

Just found the check box I was referring too - it was under CHART AREA > ENABLE CHART INTERACTIVITY.

The feature is now accessibility.

Two follow-up questions:

1) Is it possible to have the X-Axis labels be the Hyperlink? Currently only the X-Axis gridline is acting a link. Ex: I want the entire label "FORD" to be a link, not just the thin black gridline that is beside the label "FORD.

2) Is it possible to have different hyperlinks per different X-Axis labels? Currently the X-Axis gridline is only pointing to the one base URL I entered. I want the "FORD" label to point to a specific new report and the next label "CHEVY" to point to another report.

Please let me know if the above isn't clear

Alex,

For 1, what version of BIRT are you using? I was pretty sure that when I've done this in recent versions, the whole label area was a link.

For 2, you could probably build the URI to the drill through report in the URI builder rather than using the actual drill through option. This should allow you to link to different reports for different values.

I'd think you'd be able to build the URI to the drill down report using the expression builder for the URI hyperlink option.
