broken link for image in IE 6.0

I am using Iwov 5.5.2.
A broken link as opposed to an image is shown in visual format when using IE 6.0 but in IE 5.5 (same DCR) is OK. This happens with all the DCRs.

Also, for some DCRs the HTML mode in VA shows a  character before the anchor tag. Again, same DCR using IE 5.5 displays the HTML code without the special character.
I will come up w/ additional info. tomorrow but if somebody already experienced this please let me know if there was an explanation.

Seems strange.

I have been using IE6 for some time now and have never had any problems.
The special characters may be an encoding issue.
If you click on View / Encoding, is the default encoding the same, or is manually selected?

I cant explain the broken image problem off the top of my head.
