Changing table cell width through scripting
toeen1
Greetings!
I am moving from crystal reports to BIRT.
I have a special need to change the specifice cell width of a table.
PROBLEM:
I have four columns code,description,rate1,rate2
in some of the dataset rows [aslo called groups] we do not have value for rate1 and rate2 and the description is very long. Now we want to save some space and require to expand the cell containing description and take the space allocated for rate1 and rate2.
How could I accomplish it in BIRT.
Thanks!

Hi M.MaShaAllah,
So, when there will be data for rate1 and rate2 in some rows and not in others? And you want to check when there isn't and make the description field take up their space too? Is this correct? Can you post some sample data? Also, what version of BIRT are you using?

Thanks for your reply!
Yes you are right I want to do it in the way as you have undterstood.
I am using BIRT 2.3.2 on windows.
Here is the sample data
Code Des Rate1 Rate2
60513 Medium Voltage Cable
260513.16 Medium Voltage, Single and
Multi Conductor Cable
260513.16.10 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) insulated
single core copper wire solid
260513.16.10.02 1.5 mm² 17.23 18.30
260513.16.10.03 2.5 mm² 28.63 35.40
260513.16.15 PVC insulated single core copper
wire standard
260513.16.15.01 1.5 mm² 18.89 20.22
After the desired solution it would be shown as
Code Des Rate1 Rate2
60513 Medium Voltage Cable
260513.16 Medium Voltage, Single and Multi Conductor Cable
260513.16.10 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) insulated single core copper wire
solid
260513.16.10.02 1.5 mm² 17.23 18.30
260513.16.10.03 2.5 mm² 28.63 35.40
260513.16.15 PVC insulated single core copper wire standard
260513.16.15.01 1.5 mm² 18.89 20.22
Ofcourse to make it more vivid my table would be having border.
Thanks!
