Database Types for Data Connection Definition in Actuate BIRT RDP

How do I add additional database types to Actuate BIRT Report Designer Professional so they appear in the Type dropdown selector in the New Data Connection Definition dialog?

I am trying using the Information Object Design perspective. When there is a report open, the Data Explorer view is available and adding a new data source there is easy, using mysql or hsql drivers. But, under the IO Design perspective I can't add a new data source, just the option for Data Connection Definition which does not give me options for HSQL or MySQL.

There are currently types for DB2, Informix, Oracle, SQLServer, etc. but I need ones for MySQL and Hypersonic. Is there a folder to drop the JDBC driver jars into?

I've tried placing them into BRDProeclipsepluginscom.actuate.data.oda.jdbc.drivers_2.3.2.v20100416lib and BRDProeclipsepluginsorg.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_2.3.2.v20100115-1545drivers but they don't show up in the Types dropdown.

Hi khobbs333,

Have you tried clicking on "Manage Drivers" in the JDBC dataSource wizard and added the jar file there as well?

When using the IO Design perspective and right clicking Data Sources there is only the option for "New Data Connection Definition". The "New JDBC Data Source" is only available when in the "Report Design" perspective. I'm not making a report here, I'm trying to make an Information Object against a MySQL and Hypersonic database, but I'd rather be using JNDI somehow.

I'm having the same problem while creating the information object. I cannot see even the ORACLE in the type for the Data source. I tried all the various ways to create an Oracle connection but nothing worked. I'm currently using the evaluation version not sure if this got any thing to do with it. Please let me know if you got a way to create a new type for data source.
