Transforming row values as columns
system_migrated
Hi,
I have table that return values like below.
Employee Id| Questions | Answer
1 | question1 | answer1
1 | question2 | answer2
1 | question3 | answer3
2 | question1 | answer1
2 | question2 | answer2
2 | question3 | answer3
I wanted to show them in Birt report as
Employee | question1 | question2 | question3
1 | answer1 | answer2 | answer3
2 | answer1 | answer2 | answer3
Please let me know how can I achieve this?
Thanks in advance

Hi Giri,
This looks like a perfect place for a crosstab. You'd just need to create a dataCube with Employee and Question as the dimensions, then you'd have answer as the measure. Add a crosstab to your design and drag over the fields to their correct cell from the dataCube and you should have it. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi michael,
Currently Questions are displayed in random order, though query produces always in same order.
How can I order/sort "Question" Dimension to always display in sorted order "question1,question2,question3".

Giri,
You could add a computed column that assigns a numerical value for which question it is, then add that as an attribute for the dimension you're sorting, then add a sort on the crosstab on that group by that column.
