Issue in Report with two dataset
system_migrated
Can You tell me please how to compare field of one dataset with the field of other dataset in scripted report.
Actually my problem is that i have to change the color of row value of dataset2 by comparing its value with whole values in other row in dataset1 , i have tried this by inserting table with dataset2 in the detail row of table binded with Dataset1, but the it is comparing value with current value of dataset1 row and data is also coming reaptedly.
so my problem is that i have to compare current column value of one table with all values of same column in other table if they matched then value should be displayed in blue.
please help, i will be very thankfull

Hi Dinesh123,
I'm not sure if I understand completely, but do you have a common key between the two dataSets that you could join them on? Then, you'd have them all in a single dataSet that you could access from a single table. If not, could you please give samples of what both dataSets look like and explain a little more in detail what you're trying to do? Thanks!

Hi micheal,
thanks for your great help,
actually we cant make join between then i am explaining it because i have two dataset one dataset like dataset2 contains all itemnum and manufacturer field value of poline table and if we modify the value of these fields in poline application then only modified values stores in another table called a_poline so i have taken a_itemnum and a_manufacturer field from table a_poline in another dataset called dataset1 . so i have to print all the values of itemnum and manufacturer including modified values from poline table but the modified values should come in Blue color.
so i have created two dataset first is a_polinedataset(containing only modified values)
second dataset is polinedataset(containing all values of itemnum and manufacturer including modified values this is the main table)
so i have to compare each value of itemnum from polinedataset with all values of a_itemnum form a_polinedataset if they matched value print in blue color.
so what to do please help me as soon as possiible,i will be very thankful to you.

Dinesh123,
Can you give me a sample of what the data could look like in both dataSets? The larger the samples the better. Also include your BIRT version so I can try to put together a report design for you. Thanks.

Hi micheal,
Please tell me if there is any code or any other way to compare value of one dataset1 column with all values of column in other dataset2 without inserting table in the detail row of other table.
Can we create global array which store all the values of dataset1 then can we able to compare dataset1 column value with that array in HIGHLIGHT condition . is there is any way please send me code which make it possible.
now i am explaining you my issue with example:
I have two dataset
dataset1:Suppose it has following columns and data.
polinenum itemnum manufacturer
1 aaa A
2 bbb B
3 ccc C
4 ddd D
5 eee E
dataset2: initally it will be blank because no modification in dataset1 values
polinenum itemnum manufacturer
DataSet2 store all modified value of dataset1, supose if we edit itemnum bbb to fff then following info will be stored in dataset2
After modification
Dataset1 and dataset2 values will be following
dataset1:
polinenum itemnum manufacturer
1 aaa A
2 fff B
3 ccc C
4 ddd D
5 eee E
Dataset2:
polinenum itemnum manufacturer
2 fff NULL
so i will have to compare each column value of dataset1 with all values of dataset2 column if they matched (column value of dataset1 is modified value) then we have to change its color with blue .
I hope you will undrestand my issue with this example. so please just tell me how to cpmpare each value of one column with every value of column of other dataset.

Dinesh123,
This still looks like you could do a joint dataSet with an outer join. Then, you could create a computed column that tells you when you have a value for both polinenum fields and you could put a flag of 1 in the computed column. For all others, you'd put 0. Then, in your table tied to this joint dataSet, you'd highlight the lines with a 1 for this new computed field. Let me know if you have questions. I haven't tried this, but it should work, I would think.
