Hiding page header for second page
ksanta
Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a way to hide a page header (or elements in the page header) for not only the first page of the report but also the second?
We are using BIRT 2.5.0.
Thanks,
Karl

So are you looking to hide the header all together? If so just select the Master Page and delete everything in the header.

Hi thanks for the quick reply. This solution won't work for us as we have a report which may go on for 2 or more pages. We need the page header removed for the first 2 pages and have it display on the 3rd (and subsequent, if any).<br />

Thanks,<br />

If you are using a grid or table to control layout, then you can manually control how page breaks are invoked. From there you can choose to apply the master page needed for that section of a document. Add a grid you your report (if You have not already) and check out the "Page Break" property.

Hi there,
Unfortunately we do not know where the page break for the third page will be. Our report is a confirmation report by nature which has optional paragraphs of verbiage depending on a deal type. If we hard code a page break on one of those paragraphs there is a risk of having the report break early on the third page, leaving a mostly blank page before finishing on the fourth page.
I've investigated using multiple master pages as you suggested but I can't get around the issue of the page break occurring in the "wrong" spot. I've also had a look at trying to use the Page Autotext field together with page variables, Javascript and row visibility but couldn't get a result. Is there a way to use the page number autotext to control the visibility of a row in the header? Or is this alternate option barking up the wrong tree?
Cheers,
Karl

Given the variable nature of your requirements it sounds like even if you could use the page number to control visibility, that still could cause issues. I would leave the masterpage header blank and tackle this on the report canvas itself.
After building out the initial content you will arrive at the content for which you want the header displayed. Lay this content out in a table. Add a header row to this table. Each time a page break is hit as that table is rendered, the header can be repeated.
That should give you the control over the header you are looking for.
