Browse Local Filesystem
sunil_j
Hi,
When I assign a job to an author, is it possible to attach some files (.doc,.xls etc.) from a Local Filesystem ?
I want to have a similar feature in a DCT also. Can I have a button clicking on which I can attach an existing file from my local File system and not from the files existing on TeamSite ?
Will appreciate if I can have some code to see this feature working.
Thanx
Sunil

Files that are associated with tasks in a workflow MUST exist within the same TeamSite area as the task's areavpath. If you want to specify files on the local file system, you will have to develop (or borrow) the process of copying the specified files into the workarea associated with the task and then adding them to the task explicitly from their location in TeamSite.
DCT's don't really care as much where the files are - but chance are, if you are going to refer to a file (or a URL) from within a DCR you will want that specification to be *relative* to the doc-root, which in most cases is usually represented by the top of the TeamSite area. So you'd have a similar issue where you might want to select the files from your local file system, but in order to really make use of them you will probably want to have those files copied into your TeamSite area and submitted and deployed along with everything else.

See if this works and if this is what u r looking for.
1) write a cgi call out where it opens a window ..
the contents in the window would be a text box and a browse button beside that.
2) a attach button underneath.
A cgi script that does an action after u click the browse and goes to the local file system
3) a attach button which attaches...
shouldnt bee too tough...i am encosing the little bit of code snippet where it goes and attaches...
*************
#!/usr/local/bin/perl
require "./cgi-lib.pl";
$cgi_lib'maxdata = 50000;
$ret = &ReadParse;
&CgiDie("Error in reading and parsing of CGI input") if !defined $ret;
&CgiDie("No data uploaded",
"Please enter it in <a href='file.html'>file.html</a>.") if !$ret;
$in{'upfile'} =~ s/</</g;
$in{'upfile'} =~ s/>/>/g;
print &PrintHeader;
print &HtmlTop("File Upload Results");
print <<EOT;
<p>You've uploaded a file. Your notes on the file were:<br>
<blockquote>$in{'note'}</blockquote><br>
<p>The file's contents are:
<pre>
$in{'upfile'}
</pre>
EOT
print &HtmlBot;

looks like this works a little bit...

I've a similar requirement, where the user should be able to attach a local file from the DCT.
Is it possible to attach the file using <cgi-callout>?
Is it possible to upload this file to TeamSite to a specified folder? Can I access this file as a link in the generated HTML (provided I design my Presentation Template accordingly).
Thanks

Yes u can do all that you want.
You have to pass the target folder where you want the file to get uploaded. It is possible to access that File in the HTML page using an hyperlinke ..../docs/abc.doc (i.e the value of the browser text box).
