Read and delete a txt file from inside a BIRT report

Hi,
How can I read and then delete a txt file on a Linux box where the iserver is running. I want to be able to read the accessible file and then delete it from the server and take actions based on that. Could you please create a sample for it?
In erdPro I used the Shell function to delete and the Open command to read a file. Not sure in BIRT.
