How to fill out entire page before page break

hi,

i am using tables to create my reports and i found out sometimes the page not even fill out all the detials first before page break happns . is that any idea to force the report to fill out all the details in entire page without using page break interval??? the page break interval break from the number of count row u need after u break.. but can this do same like cyrtal report way that only page break after enitre page had been filled with details ?? thx

And by the way i am using HELIOS 2.6 version now

Are you talking in PDF output?

If so, try using a page break interval of 0 when the output is in PDF.

hi mwillims it work , but another problem agn which this report i create group page break by customer. Every customer will have their own page count but after i set the page break interval to 0 ,the page count no longer count in group accordingly from customer .THE GROUP COUNT PAGE BREAK features i using the 'variables' method to make it count.

So, you're doing a manual count of rows in each customer group and want each customer group to start on a new page? Is this correct? Let me know if there is more to it than this. I'll try to work up a quick example.

yes, each customer should have the new page count but after i change the page break interval to 0 if never done the counting ... and thx agn for ur feedback ^_^ and this issue when i generate to PDF format using 'AUTO' to generate the output

Unfortunately the onPageBreak event is not called when there's a pagebreak in this situation because it only gets called when forced by the pageBreakInterval or by you manually, so you'll never be able to reset your row counter. Same goes for the pageNumber variable. It is incremented when the onPageBreak event fires, I believe, so we can't use it as a reference for when you need to reset the row count. This is something that would be a good enhancement request / bug to file. You can do that at http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/resources/bug-reporting/.

Since the onPageBreak event is not called when you have a page break interval of 0, variable page counting won't work this way. You'll have to accept a set amount of rows per page to get this to work, I believe. So, it's probably choose the filled page or the group page number, not both. I do think this is a good idea for an enhancement request and was going to suggest it to the development team myself. If you'd like, you can file an enhancement request for the onPageBreak event to fire when there is an actual page break in PDF that isn't forced by an interval or goup change.
