retrieve dataset results programmatically

hi,
i am using eclipse report designer with birt 2.5.2.
in my report i have a scripted datasource and a scripted dataset. to get data into the scripted dataset i use the ScriptedDataSourceEventAdapter. i overwrote the method beforeOpen(IDataSourceInstance dataSource, IReportContext reportContext) to initialize the datasource where i get the data from. it is a jdbc datasource. for this jdbc datasource i have a sql-select-query dataset.
so i need to fill the sql dataset before i can fetch data into my scripted dataset. one way to solve this problem is to create a invisible table for the sql dataset. but is it possible to fill the sql dataset in my beforeOpen method instead? can i use the IReportContext therefor? so the invisible table would not be necessary any more.

Hi thomas,
So, you're wanting to access the jdbc data in the beforeOpen method of the scripted dataSet? Is this what you're asking? Let me know.
What is the purpose of getting the jdbc data before the scripted data?
kuli
Yeah right.
In the database there is a table with a xml string in each row. i need to get all the xml strings into the jdbc dataset so i can parse the xml. this should all happen in the beforeOpen method.
finally the scripted dataset represents the xml's data.
thx
