DIsplaying an error from the workflow template
MikeMoretti
Hi,
I have a workflow template that needs to perform some checks and not let the workflow get instantiated if these checks fail. How can I display an error message from the workflow template Perl code to the user and let them know when the checks fail?
Thanks,
-Mike

You can use die, but it's not too pretty (causes a JavaScript alert, then busted workflow instantiation window). You can put whatever JavaScript you want in
CGI_info( post_tagtable_options => "<SCRIPT>whatever</SCRIPT>" )
Not sure how you would associate it with the submit button.

If you are talking about validating input for TAG_info variables, you can use the
valid_input
keyword and assign it a subroutine to validate your input. Then you can use the error_msg tag to customize the error message that gets displayed if it fails the validation. You can also use a simple regex in place of a subroutine for the
valid_input
value.

Hi Mike,
Can you please give me some more information about how you have implemented this in your workflow. i mean not let the workflow get instantiated if these checks fail.
Thanks
Mohan

If there is an error in of the input fields then you can't instantiate the workflow this is out of box functionality. If you hit submit it will should the error message to the user.
