Problems with global variables
LeinadJan
Hi everybody,
it seems the global variables aren't working well in my version of BIRT. Each time I try to assign a global variable on the onFetch event from my first dataset, when I'm reading in the beforeOpen event of my second dataset, it's always null.
I tried the persistant global variables too. It's the same result.
I don't know what to do.
Bye
Leinad

Hi Leinad,
Is there a report element in your report that is tied to the first dataSet before any element that is tied to your second dataSet? So that the data is called?

Hi Michael,

no, there is no other element and the first dataset doesn't appear in the report.

You'll need to have the first dataSet run to set global variables within its script methods. So, try putting a text element before your table and set its binding to the first dataSet. In the property editor for the text box, go to the visibility section and make it invisible. That should allow the variables to be set for you before the second table is created.
Hope this helps.
