react on exceptions of web service datasources

I'm using a web service as a datasource.
All works fine as long as the web service does not throw an exception.
If an exception is thrown BIRT ignores the damaged XML response of the web service and shows a report as if nothing bad happend.
The part where the exception occured is empty.
No hint that the result is not correct, nothing.

Can BIRT react otherwise on exceptions of web service datasources ?
