Visual Template Builder
cuiw197
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get Visual Template started on my computer. It crashes every time i attempt to create a new DCT / PT. Aparently, it requires me to mount a Y drive on my computer connected to teamsite. Does anyone know how i can simply get Viaul Template builder to work w/o the need to have a Y Drive? or connectivity to the IWOV server?
Thanks
Will

Are you using the required version of Dreamweaver - UltraDev 4.0 or Dreamweaver MX ?

Well i think i found out the problem.. When i first started the visual template builder to add a new DCT, it crashed... but then when i go and try to add a PT it will work and then adding DCT will work as well... very buggy thing... I asked another developer to try the same... and he experienced the same issue... So i'm assuming this is just something that IWOV need to work it out... but now that its working.. i'm impressed w/ the tool

No, Its working fine on my machine. I can create a new DCT first and then only I can create a new PT. Creating a new PT first and then a DCT is all together a wrong concept and wont serve the purpose.

which version are you using. .9 or 1.0? I have used both succesfully without mounting the Y: drive. I have to admit, 1.0 is faster, but it has caused some serious crashes in DWMX, including one that wiped out my datacapture file. It caused the error on save.

I recently upgraded my design team from Dreamweaver MX version 6.0 to the latest and greatest version of Dreamweaver (MX 6.1). We were getting shaky but okay results with the visual template builder but now since the upgrade to 6.1 I get a javascript exception thrown every time I go to create a new DCT. To workaround this I am going to try and manually place an empty DCT (datacapture.cfg) in the template folder and see If I have any luck opening it instead of creating a new one from the drop down in dreamweaver. I am hoping this is the only issue I come across as Macromedia has fixed a slew of bugs with the 6.1 update. I'll let you all know how it goes tommrow. I think I am going to open up a new support case as well on this.

VTB 1.0 has been tested and certified gainst base MX (version 6), but not the 6.1 version. we have some problems reported along the same lines, for which we are currently testing a patch. however, we will still not officially certify against 6.1 until we have a maintenance release of VTB.

I am having an issue with DreamWeaver UltraDev 4.0 and the Visual Template builder 1.0 plugin.
I can create a DCT, but when I try to create the PT UltraDev will crash with the error "The instruction at # referenced memory at # The memory could not be read". I get this same message if I try to open an exiting PT also. I can open an existing DCT, but when I the SQL viewer tab, it crashes also.
Any ideas?

a Service Pack is now available on support site to address this issue. the javascript errors occur on 6.1 due to some changes they have made.
