Common Data Source maintenance

Hi,

First of all i want to thank BIRT Exchange Forum .As a Newbie i started working on reports and learnt many things from forum about BIRT.

I am having a problem , In our Team we are creating data source for each report separately and using it.While integrating all the reports for release or deploying on some other db it will be tedious work.how manage db connection in a single place? how can we maintain our reports or reuse data sets?

If you have an iServer:
You can use the Connection Configuration .XML file to define the connection properties to be used when deployed and run on the iServer.

For development, you can use Actuate Information Objects to create a query repository that any of your reports can query for a subset of the columns.

If you just have BIRT and Engine (AJC):
I'm not sure if the connection config works here, but it might.

For both:
Develop report component libraries to be shared across report designs.
Then you can change the DataSet defined in the library and it will be reflected in the reports that access it.
