Chart Legend Corrupted

Hi, 
 
This forum provides me with great solutions really quickly, but maybe this will slow you down... 
 
I have a data set that returns monthly data. One of the columns returned is the month name (using the MySQL function MONTHNAME). I then use the values and the month names to create a pie chart. This works great in the development environment, but on the Tomcat webserver I get what looks like hexadecimal instead of month names in the legend.

What could be causing this?

This is extremely disappointing.

There is no way I will be able to deploy a report with this problem... I have rebuilt the report from the ground up again, and the problem is still there when I deploy to the web. Is it really the same charting engine in eclipse and the one that is deployed in the birt.war file?

Can anyone else out there reproduce this? If so I could raise a bug report (don't yet know where to do this).

I guess I could try using another chart type..

Hi Stephen, 
I was able to reproduce this issue with open source BIRT and MySQL connector version 5.1.13 . I think this is a driver issue as I can get it to work in <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.birt-exchange.com/be/products/birt-report-designers/actuate-birt-report-designers/features/'>Actuate BIRT Designer Professional</a> that uses Data Direct drivers. As a work around in open source BIRT you could use SQL function MONTH and a calculated column that maps the month number to the corresponding string for name of the month (1 for January, 2 for Feburary etc)

It has been a while, but the customer now wants the report. I first upgrading the JDBC driver to mysql-connector-java-5.1.15 as you hinted it is probably a driver issue. No good, same problem. But thanks to your suggestion I created a Javascript function which I pass the month integer to as a computed coloumn:
