DataSetHandle

Hello BIRT community, 
 
how can I read the data values from the DataSetHandle? (I want to get the data from the data set) 
I am using this example: <a class='bbc_url' href='http://wiki.eclipse.org/Java_-_Execute_Modified_Report_(BIRT)'>http://wiki.eclipse.org/Java_-_Execute_Modified_Report_(BIRT)</a> 
And I want to iterate over the column values in the buildReport method after the buildDataSet was invoked. 
 
I tried to use the resultSetIterator DataSetHandle-method but it returns null. 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>DataSetHandle dsh = designHandle.findDataSet( "ds" );
while(iter.hasNext()) {
ResultSetColumn rsc = (ResultSetColumn)iter.next();
}</pre>
What am I doing wrong ?

This one should work. If code below throws a runtime exception a dataSet with name ds wasn't found in your report. 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
DataSetHandle ds = designHandle.findDataSet( "ds" );
if(ds==null) {
throw new RuntimeException("DataSet with name ds doesn't exist in report")
}
Iterator iter = ds.resultSetIterator();
while(iter.hasNext()) {
ResultSetColumn rsc = (ResultSetColumn)iter.next();
}
</pre>

The dataSet is there. No runtime exception was trown. 
 
The data are written in the design. But I can't list them. 
 
Only this code I can see where the data set in bind to the table: 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>table.setDataSet( designHandle.findDataSet( "ds" ) );</pre>
