Hi,

I have a requirement of merging multiple design files into one. This will enable to design report in a modular manner. Is there a mechanism by which multiple rptdesign files can be merged so that it can be rendered in a single report?

Yes, but it would require a lot of scripting to do it at runtime. 
 
It would be much easier to if you just combined reportlet outputs of the multiple report designs at runtime rather than trying to combine multiple report designs.
