SSO wiht LDAP & SiteMinder Integration

Hi,
I have installed TS 552 on Solaris 8, and i am building a seperate login page in JSP to login to teamsite. The credentials to be entered are only the global SSO ID and password. I have to authenticate/authorize thru LDAP and SiteMinder. There is the master LDAP from which a consumer LDAP is created for us, which no one is allowed to play with and hence cant add atributes to it for teamsiterole.
The questions that arise - who does the authentication and authorization? Is it LDAP or SiteMinder. How do I specify TeamSite roles since I cant write into LDAP. Can also anyone explain the flow, like when a user logs in what happens behind the scenes, like who validates and who specifies the roles.
If any one has something to share it would be great.
