loading datasets or parameter selection list before report generation

Hi,

I am trying to put together a report that can be ran against multiple, identical data sources (different database on a different server).

So far, I can choose which database to use and hit that database for the report. What I would like to solve now, is choosing a database, grabbing a list from that database and presenting it in a drop down list as a parameter, and populating parameter info with that selection. A cascading parameter group without a pre-defined dataset of some sort...

For example.
1. User selects database A
2. BIRT sets the jdbc url for database A
3. BIRT populates a Tests dataset with a list of tests.
4. User selects the test.
5. BIRT gets test information, and populates test name, date, tester, etc. parameters.

Your best bet is to use an external parameter prompt and pass in the results of your parameter selection before you call your report.
