Using user definition on Report parameter selection.
shi
Hello,
We're using BIRT 2.3.2. In the future, we're going to use BIRT 11.
We need to use User definition for selection of a parameter's list data on the reports.
For example,
User A has "sales" as role.
User B has "administrator" as role.
When user-A executes a report, it needs to show a part of listing data on that parameter.
When user-B executes a report, it needs to show all of listing data on that parameter.
We'd like to know how we should do to get that user's role information in BIRT report.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi shi,
Are you going to be using the Actuate 11 BIRT iServer as well? It has security features that would help you with this, if so.
If not, how are you currently passing a user's credentials in? Or is this where you are stuck?

Hello mwilliams.
We are going to use Actuate 11 iServer as well.
If it doesn't trouble you, we'd like to know both cases of 10 iServer and 11 iServer.
Thank you and best regards,
mwilliams
shi,
I'm going to move this thread to the iServer forum where those with more expertise on the iServer will be able to help!

Hi Shino,
You can use the following javascript within your BIRT report to get the role of the user:
reportContext.getAppContext().get("ServerContext").getUserRoles()
The function returns a list of roles.

Hi Ashwinin,<br />
<br />
Could you create here a simple example if I would like to use the role value as a report parameter to filter table please?<br />
Where do I need to add this script and how I need to use it?<br />
<br />
thanks<br />

Hi Peter,
Page Level Security (PLS) addresses that specific requirement. Here is an example:
