Can't Get Value Series Interactivity to work for Area Charts

I have a problems getting Mouse Click or Mouse Over interactivity to work for Area Charts with BIRT 2.6.1 . Clicking on the areas in a stacked Area chart does not generate a hpyerlink or script event. However clicking on the exact point does generate an event.

To show the problem I have included the Mouse Over example changed to an Area Chart.

We really want to use stacked area charts to hi-light our data. Is there any way to get the areas between the points to be active?

The BUG_area_chart_series_interactivity.rptdesign and mouseoverdetails-area.rptdesign both show the problem. The user must click exactly on the data point in an Area Chart to generate an event, either MouseClick or MouseOver in the examples. 
 
We want the Area Chart to behave similarly to the Bar Charts. In Bar Charts the user can interact with the area colored for the Series Grouping to get an event generated. We want Area Charts to generate events when interacting in the trapezoidal area colored for the Series Grouping [See 'Bug2_area_chart_interaction_clip.bmp' for user hovering exactly over the data point in the area chart. 'Bug2_bar_chart_interaction_clip.bmp' shows hovering in the colored area to generate the tool-tip.] 
 
I have attached a newer version of the 'BUG_area_chart_series_interactivity.rptdesign' and two screenshots of the problem.
