Anyone switched from Oracle Discoverer to BIRT?

I am just curious. Our 'official' in-house BI report tool is Oracle Discoverer. Even though I use a MySQL database, we have Disco set up so that I can create reports from it.

I have had a few issues with Disco, hence looking at other options. Disco does do the job but I was finding it a bit clunky. If nothing else with BIRT I can actually paste my MySQL SQL straight in.

So, I wondered if anyone else has used Disco or still is and can offer any observations on the pros and cons of each?
