OD 5.6

Is the OD 5.6 upgrade only the base server, or will the receivers need to be upgraded as well?

Base Server, Receivers, and Admin Server - all components should be upgraded.

However, if you are trying to phase-in the upgrade, then start with the Admin Server and Base Server first, and then proceed to each of the Receivers when you can.

FYI: I went through this recently at a customer site, environment W2K, and we did *not* have to reboot the Receivers as part of the upgrade (though we might have had to explicitly start them with 'net start iwod'... I can't remember right now, sorry)

To elaborate a little on Adam's comments, if you are using the OD Admin UI, you must upgrade it to work properly in a mixed OD 5.6/5.5.1 environment.

Also, the 5.6 Admin "Package" now bundles the Admin UI Server and the Op Server into one installer. (Previously these were separate.) The Admin Package installer will detect whether you have the OD Op Server or TeamSite OpenAPI installed, and then "do the right thing" during the upgrade install process.

Ok so lets make this painfully clear, if i'm deploying from an win2k ts base with od 551 to a similar box with od 5.6 reciever on it will it work? If not why?

No, you cannot deploy from OD 5.5.1 to 5.6. Only the other way around is supported.

Note that you can upgrade your sender to OD 5.6, even if you are using TeamSite 5.5.2, 5.0.2 or 5.0.1.
