ReportEngineFactory is null
ypetrov
The code below somehow (1) doesn't create report engine factory, just returns null and (2) doesn't throw any exception. Setting the BIRT logging level to maximum via EngineConfig.setLogConfig(..) doesn't help - no any valuable information there.<br />
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>...
EngineConfig config = new EngineConfig();
config.getAppContext().put(EngineConstants.APPCONTEXT_CLASSLOADER_KEY,
MyClass.class.getClassLoader());
config.setResourcePath("some_100%_valid_path");
config.setEngineHome("C:/BWFConfig/birt/birt-runtime/ReportEngine");
Platform.startup( config );
IReportEngineFactory factory =
(IReportEngineFactory) Platform.createFactoryObject(IReportEngineFactory.EXTENSION_REPORT_ENGINE_FACTORY);
...</pre>
<br />
The directory C:/BWFConfig/birt/birt-runtime/ReportEngine contains copy-pasted content of the ReportEngine folder from the BIRT distribution.<br />
<br />
The questions:<br />
<br />
1. If anyone already faced this sort of problem, then what was the solution in your case?<br />
<br />
2. What diagnostic tools/techniques other than logging and digging in the source code are available to troubleshoot BIRT runtime?<br />
<br />
Thanks.

Does this directory (ReportEngine ) contain a configuration directory and a plugins directory? Make sure the configuration directory only contains a config.ini to start with.
