Blank Window on Edit CCI

When I use a CCI edit link in an email message, I get two windows - one blank one and one with the templating window. It appears that the only purpose of the blank window is to spawn a new window with no button bars and menus. I think I can get rid of this blank window if I edit IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin/iweditdcr.itml, but I am wondering if this would impact other features (such as if I edit the DCR through the TeamSite UI, or something else)? I don't think my users would mind having the button bars and menus, but they really don't like the blank windows.

I too would like to remove this "spawn" window after it has launched my templating window. I was going to attempt to close this spawn window with some javascript once I detected that it had launched it's child window. I just never got around to it.

Anyone else have a solution?

I changed iweditdcr.itml and it didn't work - I still got a blank window, but this one had no content. I think it may be because Interwoven is trying to use the same code in CCI links that they use in the TeamSite UI, and one requires a parent window? And they are trying to hide the button bar. If you can live with the button bar, I would write your own JSP or CGI or whatever to replace theirs. If you can't live with it, I think the javascript has to do. But how would you know which window to close? And would you do this with FormAPI or what?

I launch templates through the "edit" or "newdcr" CCI links on a web page. These links are launched in a named window (let's call it cms) so I would think that I can detect whether the new window (cms) has launched it's child window (the actual template).

You could accomplish by calling the setTimeout function with another function to detect this behavior. This javascript would be invoked from the main caller window (the one launching the cms window). I think that would work.

I think I will just build my own snippy quick (attached). When the email is composed, the code knows if it's a DCR, templated output, or not templated, I might use different links for each, or put the logic in here if it works.

If you want to use something like this but don't want to bother with com.cmsideas.interwovenapi.CMSFile, you would just need to parse the vpath parameter to set the workarea variable and get the category/type (could use OpenAPI but that's more hassle). Actually I don't know if this is required; the servlet should be able to figure it out.

It's a Java api around Interwoven, like OpenAPI somewhat but a little simpler, less complex, more of the core functionality that I need on all projects. I'm not really comfortable giving it to Interwoven, and it's incomplete (especially the documentation). Anyway even the docs are too big to upload here. It's more about writing Workflows and ExternalTasks (things where I don't have a session ID and don't want to hard-code a username/password) than UI stuff, but it can be used more easily and anyway I don't know much about OpenAPI. It's basically a bunch of wrappers to the command line tools.

Check ContributionApprovalWorkflow.java for an example of building a worklfow with Java instead of Perl. Check job.xml for an example of the Java it created. Check CMSFile.html for the API documentation - this version is pretty old though.

Java really isn't my strength - I like C#. Which is why the javadocs are not well integrated. So no laughing.

Hi, we had a solution which worked well in the 4.5.1 version, but I can't get the timeout to run properly in 5.5.2. I would be happy if somebody could take a look at the attached file which gets called from the workflow. The purpose is to open a launch window, which closes according to a set timeout. However, the window doesn't want to close after the DCR is launched.

I ended up replacing the lame CCI with a custom JSP (attached). No laughing at my code (JSP, HTML, JavaScript or anything else), I am not a JSP developer and this was just a prototype/proof of concept. This uses some packages I wrote but you could easily do direct calls to get authentication, check lock info, etc.

I'm no JSP developer either, so I first tried out some other things with my existing files. I figured out, that my launch file turns into a file called iweditdcr.itml, meaning that my launch file correctly closed, while the iweditdcr.itml file didn't. When I added a timout there as well, it works! Probably not the most elegant solution in the world, but I won't spend more time on it at the moment. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing your code, perhaps I'll make use of it some other time.
