Migratin iServer 11 from one server to another
mosher
We have iServer 11 installed on a windows server used for development. How do we go about migrating from this server to a production server, esssentially wanting to create an exact replica on another server?
I tried copying the encyc directory as I read elsewhere, but to no avail.

You need to copy the entire "data" directory. The installer prompts you for the data directory during installation. This holds the entire data folder including the PostgreSQL database.
To copy it to a different server there are a couple of steps you can take:
- Shutdown your iServer11 on machine1
- Shutdown your iServer11 on machine2
- Take a backup of the data directory on machine2
- Copy the entire data directory from machine1 to machine2
- Edit the acserverconfig.xml (under $data/config directory) on machine2.
- The acserverconfig.xml must point to the volume on machine2
(UNLESS you use the same VOLUME names for both machines - identical setup including file partitions etc)
- Startup PostgreSQL on machine2
- Fire up pgAdmin and open up ac_volume table. Ensure that the volume name is the same as the one specified in acserverconfig.xml on machine2
- Start up the iServer on machine2
- Note that if your file partitions lie outside of the $data directory on machine1 then it must be physically copied to $data directory on machine2 on the expected file partition location.

That is exactly what I am looking for, but I forgot to mention one thing: We aren't using the default PostgreSQL database. During installation, opted for custom installation and use an Oracle database for the encyclopedia volume.
Attempted to copy the entire data directory and the Oracle database, but didn't edit the acserverconfig.xml as you mentioned. Will try that and let you know how it works.
