Paging using API only

I have a project with a lot of GUI demands from the customer that forces me to use the BIRT with API only and not using any available viewer, just rendering it myself and show the result inside a JSP page.<br />
Is there a way to implement the paging with the API?<br />

I noticed that it mentioned in the <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/reportEngineAPI.php#iruntask'>Report Engine API docuemtation</a> but couldn't find more.<br />

Yes you can do this by first doing a run task that generates a rptdocument. You can then open the document and determine the number of pages:

IReportDocument document = null;
//Open the report design
document = engine.openReportDocument("output/resample/mcb.rptdocument");
long pagecnt = document.getPageCount();
Then do a render task of the pages you want to render. Keep in mind that this will present one html page, so if you want to show it like the viewer you will need to build some page control into your JSP/Servlet.

IRenderTask task = engine.createRenderTask(document);
task.setRenderOption(options);//make sure you setup the render options
task.setPageRange("1-3");//render a page range
task.setPageNumber(3);//or render a specific page.
