Soap error. Volume name is not specified

Hi, 
 
We are trying to connect an app. written in .net c# to Birt Server 11, We have compile the samples from the Actuate iServer Integration Technology installer but always got same issue, soap error ErrorCode:3431 Volume is not specified 
 
anyone has been able to connect from .net to BIRT iServer 11?

Even the axis samples won't work fine... and got same error message but different error code... anyone has integrated this server using SOAP?

Do you have multiple volumes or just one?
Can you try the login without this set:

We have only one volume and by default it is set as the machine name. 
 
We already tried without Domain we got the same issue. This issue occurs in .net and axis samples.

I tried the Java approach and it worked for me. Are you sure you are using the right volume name here:

Yes, we are sure, we have tested in three different machines (windows xp server/client) with same results beside if I use a wrong volume name I got a different error: 
 
RequestName: Login 
ErrorCode: 8007 
Message: Load balancer cannot locate the specified volume name. 
Parameter1: wrongServer 
 
But we we use the correct volume name we get: 
 
RequestName: Login 
ErrorCode: 3431 
Message: Volume name is not specified.

Can you try the Java version as a test. I modified the ActuateControl.java class (Login method) and hard coded my volume like:

actuateAPI.setTargetVolume("jw05534");

Do you know if there is a way to download a previous version of BIRT? we are using Actuate 11 but looks like that version has the issue... we would like to try in version 10...

Are you able to login using the Management console? Actuate 11 requires that the TargetVolume value be in the Soap Header for a login request. The test I ran failed with the same error you got until I added the setTargetVolume method. I know you tried the Java approach, but I thought you did this without setting the header.

Yes, we are able to log into the acadmin portal, we can run reports from there and we are able to see the volume 
from there. This fails only when trying to access via SOAP integration.

finally figured it out...
thanks to IrinaB... ("Posted 23 November 2010 - 05:39 PM")

the problem is that iserver is expecting the TargetVolume element inside soap:header (which is not SOAP compliance!) but ActuateApi is generating this inside another Header element which is the right way to send SOAP HEADERS!... probably iserver has a bug in ServiceBase::readSOAPHeader method due to the Axis generator... I guess BIRT folks are only Java devs. I have to modified the ActuateAPIEx to send the header in the way iserver is expecting.

I attached the source if you don't want to trouble with this issue...
