Problem with Birt Framework Installation in Eclipse
Mr.Reed
Hi,
hope anyone can help me with this one.
I am using the Eclipse Ganymede (Version 3.4.2).
I downloaded the Birt-Framework-Package (Version 2.6.1) (birt-report-framework-2_6_1.zip) from eclipse.org.
I unzipped the stuff into my eclipse-directory due to the installation instructions from eclipse.org.
The appropriate report design - views are there in Eclipse and everything is working except for one thing so far:
When i use the report Item "Data" for example the button for "Expression" is not working. Actually the button should also have this symbol on it (the "fx" - Symbol).
Anyone an idea? Maybe something that has to be installed so javascript is working in eclipse in the report-designer-view?
Thanks.

Hi Mr.Reed,
The reason is that Eclipse 3.4.2 had BIRT version 2.3.2 with it. You'd probably have to install BIRT 2.3.2 or one very close to it to get it to work correctly. BIRT is updated to depend on upgrades within Eclipse, so if you have an old Eclipse and a new BIRT, there might be some broken pieces.
If you're just wanting to use 2.6.1 for sure, you could download the standalone designer and use it separately from your Eclipse.
