how to convert the string value to doble value

I have a query regarding type conversion in Birt reporting technologies.

Using cross tab for displaying results. It returns follwing maner

scope1,purchase electricity,2010-2011 HY,ltrs,456.8
scope1,onsite electricity,2009-2010 HY,ltrs,356.8
scope2,debit electricity,2010-2011 HY,ltrs,256.8
scope3,credit electricity,2008-2009 HY,ltrs,156.8

here i want to concatenate the lts and float value.How can i do that? i am doing pivoting on year.how can add units to summary field which takes only decimal or double fileds.

Make a computed column in your DataSet.

Something like: java.lang.Float.parseFloat(dataSetRow["value"])
