Crosstab layout - group rows

I'm trying to display the crosstab groups into separate rows (not as column one beside the other). 
Is this possible with a crosstab? 
 
Let me explain by some visuals:

You should be able to bring your outer groups into the inner most group in your crosstab and use grids and visibility to hide unwanted duplicates of the outer groups.

Indeed, I've managed to build this report by doing both 
<ul class='bbc'><li>playing around with visibilities and column widths in BIRT and </li><li>modifying my query (stored procedure) on the database-side.</li></ul>
