Connection to MySQL database

Hi,

Can I create a data source connection to the MYSQL database resided on a remote linux server from the birt(local machine)?

Any help/ideas please.

You just need the correct JDBC driver and an open firewall.

You should be able to get the driver from MySQL vendor.

Here is one the guy sitting next me has used:
mysql-connector-java-<version>-bin.jar uses port 3306

I tried to create a connection and when clicked on "Test Connection",I got the message as "Ping succeded".

Does this mean I made a successful connection? I cannot create data sets.
