VisualFormat: customizing start dir of picture bu

AIX 5

client:
IE 6.0 , win XP

I'm trying to configure the picture button of visualformat tool bar. When you click on the picture button, it pops up a File Selection window. In this pop up window, when you click on "Select New File" button, it pops up a window with the start directory pointing to the current workarea. Is it possible to point this to another workarea? We need to do this because we have all the images stored in a separate, common workarea.
How to configure this?
if its not possible to configure this, do you have any other suggestion/recommendation?
