delete data record

What exactly does the Delete Data Record option do in WebDesk Pro? Is this the same as Delete in WebDesk? Does a workflow get kicked off. Problem being we had some users delete data records, but then we have generated file that we created with those data records, now we cannot regenerate the file, and when we edit from the output document (shtml) the dcr is not found.

Any help on this would be well received.

I haven't tried it out, but Delete Data Record was supposed to initiate a workflow that was set for active with the command 'tt_deletedcr'.

I'm not sure if we ever shipped any sample workflows for that functionality - so my guess is you might have to do your own coding for it.

Perhaps someone out here in forum-land has actually made use of it and can provide some pointers?

The problem I have is that a workflow is kicked off that shows a task that has the file attached to it, but says it is deleted. Therefore I can't do any operations on the file (ie.e iwextattr) to check some conditions before the file it deleted. There must be a way to keep the file alive throughout the workflow.

But then again, I could be way off base on this one.

If the file is deleted in the workarea, but still exists in the staging area - you could use a modified version of the areavpath to access the file in the staging area in order to extract (not set) extended attributes from.

I usually have a special workflow to handle delete. Leave the file in existence until the end of the job, that way the attributes are available. Once you get final approval, delete the file and submit the deletion.
