Hide column header at runtime

We have recently using BIRT reports for our applications. I have cross tab report where the headers and details uses different queries.

The header query returns fixed columns length and some of the column will not contain value. The requirement is not to show the column which are empty.

Please let me know is there any way to hide the column based on the value of the header during the render phase or create phase.

Any help/clue is appreciated.

How do you link your measures to your headers if they use separate dataSets? Is this something that you could create a joint dataSet between the two individual dataSets and use that for your crosstab? This way the crosstab takes care of the columns shown on its own?
