Get latest Configuration
System
Curently our environment is set-up to overwrite the whole workarea when a "get latest" is done with overwrite on. This means that any files that weren't submitted to staging are deleted from the workarea. I've worked on other implementations of teamsite where a get latest with overwrite only overwrite files that have conflicts and leaves any newly created files in the workarea alone (won't delete them). Where/how do I configure this.
For example:
Workarea A has 2 files:
file 1 (different version in staging)
file 2 (only exist in this workarea)
Under current implementation a get latest with overwrite would replace file 1 with the version in staging and delete file 2 because it didn't exist in staging.
What I want is to replace file 1 with the version in staging and leave file 2 alone in the workarea.

This is just a training issue.
In your example, you should click "Get Latest" at the top level of your WORKAREA
without
the overwrite button on. Then, you'll get a Conflict resolution screen for every file in your workarea that's in conflict with staging. At that screen, click "Select All", then click "Overwrite", then click "GetLatest"

If you do not have overwrite turned on - then Get Latest will update any files that are out of sync with staging *but not* modified. I.e. any files that you have modified in your workarea and not submitted, will *not* be affected by Get Latest.
Those files will usually get taken care of when you do a submit - and they'll either initiate a conflict resolution screen (if out-of-sync) or they'll become the latest revision (again, I'm assuming you don't have overwrite turned on when submitting either)
